Did you know that arguably the most important aspect of any badge or label is the adhesive? It is so easy to get caught up in the excitement of a beautiful design, but it isn’t going to serve its purpose if the adhesive fails and your branding falls off.
What is an adhesive? An adhesive is a sticky substance found on the underside of your label, badge or nameplate. It is the product that allows the label or badge to bond to the surface it is being applied to.
It is important to make the right choice when it comes to the adhesive, to ensure that the labels stick, and remain stuck for the life of the product.
At LNI, we have more than 50 different adhesives that we use on our branding solutions. There are a range of factors that we take into account when deciding which adhesive will best suit your needs. These factors include:
- The surface the badge or label is being applied to
- Is your product likely to be in direct contact with water?
- Will your product be exposed to direct sunlight?
- Will the badge/label be exposed to temperature extremes?
- Your budget
The team of experts at LNI will ask you all the relevant questions about your product to ensure that the badge, label or nameplate created for you will use the best available adhesive for the product’s intended use at the right price.
Types of adhesives
Although LNI uses more than 50 different adhesives, they fall into three main categories:
- Adhesive type 1 – pre-applied adhesives
- Adhesive type 2 – acrylic, pressure-sensitive adhesive tape
- Adhesive type 3 – foam adhesive tape
In addition to all the different types of adhesives we use, there are also dozens of different types of base materials used for labelling and badges. This leads to a very large number of base material/adhesive combinations!
