You may have seen our blog last month in relation to some treasures we had unearthed in the LNI archives. In this instalment, we have uncovered some special items which will be appreciated by fans of sporting memorabilia, particularly motoring.
16 years ago, Melbourne hosted the Commonwealth Games. Toyota Motor Corporation Australia, being a major sponsor of the Games, supplied 1,500 vehicles to be used throughout the event. These were later sold to the general public through the Toyota dealership network.
Each vehicle was fitted with a special edition chrome badge and an etched aluminium plaque, making these vehicles a real collector’s item! We were proud to have manufactured these beautiful-looking badges and plaques. Find out more about our product branding for automotive vehicles.
The Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix finally returned to Melbourne in April 2022, after the cancellation of the race in 2021 and 2020 due to Covid-19. We thought it might be time to have a flashback to 2011, and share our involvement with the two Renault Australia Special Edition vehicles.
First up was a Clio R.S. 200 Australian Grand Prix Edition, limited to just 31 vehicles, for which we made the numbered build plate.
We also made the build plate for the Megane R.S. 250 Red Bull Race Off vehicles. Four very special cars were driven by four very special drivers in Daniel Ricciardo, David Coulthard, Rick Kelly and Robbie Maddison.
We were excited to be entrusted with the creation of these very special nameplates.
This discovery from the LNI archives takes us back 50 years!
This is a metal part which formed part of the front grille assembly on the XY Ford Futura model, which was manufactured from 1970 to 1972, making this product sample half a century old.
Read more about our metal nameplates and some of the characteristics that make them so durable and perfect for the automotive sector.
Finally, let’s vrooooom across to the iconic Bathurst 1000! Held since 1960, this is a 1000-kilometre touring car race which is currently run as part of the Supercars Championship. This trip down memory lane takes us to 2014, and the specially-built Holden Commodore SS-V Craig Lowndes Edition, featuring a LunaKrome™ badge️ and build plate by us.
LNI has been supplying badges to Australia’s automotive industry since the early 1970s and has now grown to become an accredited supplier to most vehicle and truck brands sold in Australia.
